KATZ! wallpaper! life size image of cute little feline ready to grace your walls ever so sweetly...

Treasures have been found, let me show you....

From 'sugar walls' tableaux vivant staged as part of DesignPhiladelphia (no wonder I couldn't find it the little event guide catalogue because it was printed in there for Sunday.... not Saturday : ( ........ so for those that missed it I am so sorry and provide description of the evenings happenings.)

After a wonderful Saturday evening of photography, drawing, and still life-ing this gem became real and in many formats!

Two large print tables were the display situ for 2 ladies of fine mind and demeanor to pose in the manner of salmon fish swimming up stream.....spawning. Lots of red fabrics poured off of Jaclyn- in pic below, as she was near the top of the 'stream' struggling the most with the natural progression of such a life. Screen printed fabric yardages mimicked the colors of streams flowing and the sky reflected in the water abstracted, deconstructed and reconstructed. A quilted, patchworked fabric stream/river.

On the wall behind Jaclyn is a wall drawing of dripping irridescent lavender ink, very watery with a touch of melancholy yet reminiss of japanese sumi ink brush strokes. This drawing frames the stilled life resting on the platform. It also has two vantage points, one being at the entry of the space.

Lauren posed on the longer table, 'swam' further down stream in a dress of patch worked of shimmering squares of fabric, rather than typical fish scales.......

All the while, Denise sketched with a purple ink pen an accordian book full of drawings of the various poses of these fish girls tranformations......pics of those to come!

Please enjoy the work of many talents that came together for moments in time. More to come, especially brilliantly edited pics of Jaclyn and Lauren, the posing ladies, from the skills of photographic connoisseur/craftsman Sean.

See a class that you want but do not see a time that works for you? OR have a special artist project you would like to realize independently? A class time can be arranged for you. Private & Parent/Child classes are possible.

Class Descriptions:

All classes include these materials: one 20"x22" silk-screen frame shot with your design (yours to keep!), photographic screen exposure, proofing inks/paper/fabric, printing inks. Students tend to bring t-shirts and other fabrics/papers to print on and provide their own mylars for shooting (we go over how to make these in class).

Intro/Refresher Silk-Screen Printing - $215

Whether you are a newbie, learned a few skillz in high school back in the day, or just haven’t had the set-up to get your print on- this opportunity is perfect for you.

This specially crafted screen-printing introductory/refresher course not only takes you from start to finish in just 3 classes, but also shows you how to easily build a home studio to continue your newfound practice! You will learn how to prepare & photographically shoot your own designs, mix custom colors, and print on both paper & fabric.

Whether you are interested in screen-printing on fabric, designing your own T-shirt line, starting a hand screened stationary company, or making fine art prints- class demos are catered to your individual desire.

Previous students have created fashion collections, small business start-ups, limited edition archival prints, textiles for interiors, and unique artist’s editions/independent projects.

Next Level Screen Printing - $215

You’ve got the printing bug; so take it to the next level! This class was especially created for our students who have taken “Intro to Screen Printing” and want to keep practicing their newfound love with Candy at little bit longer. This class is for you! Also great for those that have not gotten around setting up that home studio yet. Color separations and independent projects encouraged at this level.

Wallpaper - $250

Want to design and print your own one color wallpaper? Your imagery graces the wall and transforms the room giving it your ambience and style. At the end of the series, each student gets to take home and hang their awesome 12 ft panel of wallpaper produced by their own hand during the newly offered class series.

Fabric Designing & Yardage Printing - $215

Fabric design principles (full drop, half drop, etc) are taught along with how to create from concept to finish a one-color repeatable design. Candy demonstrates how to create an infinite variety of fabric design options from your images that you can utilize on yardages for interiors and/or fashion. Students will select one design to print and complete 2 ½ yard piece of fabric by the finish of the class series. The photographic screen shooting process is the process of choice, which guarantees wonderful graphic results.

In specially crafted classes Master Printer Candy leads beginners and experts alike through the exciting process of creating Screen Printed imagery on both paper and fabric. In all classes, Candy covers the basics and demonstrates techniques that while easy to use, will yield sophisticated results sure to trigger a mild addiction to the art of silk-screen printing. All screens are shot photographically on a 19” x 22” screen – yours to keep!

Detailed instruction on how to easily set-up a ‘pop-up’ home studio is shared to help this newly found love flourish.

Previous students have created fashion collections, small business start-ups, limited edition archival prints, T-shirts, textiles for interiors, and unique artist’s editions.

All students have the opportunity to show their designs in an upcoming exhibition highlighting student work from the StudioSchool and lifetime alumni membership status.
