I am eternally thankful to the Association for Public Art,The Fairmount Park Conservancy, and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation for their partnership and energy directed towards the realization of one of the largest street paintings in America! With my assistants and support staff we were able to pull it off and take a summer carpet ride!!

August Screen-Printing Classes!
The Studio Schoolgets experimental with end-o-summer "quickies": two-week sessions in a really vibrant space @ Front & Girard, Philadelphia easily accessible by public transit, car, bike, and foot!
Small group classes in screen printing on paper, fabric, t-shirts, yardage & wallpaper cater to the design ideas/desires of each participant from true beginner on up! Students learn how to set up a home studio, design skills, color mixing, screen exposing and even get to keep their screen for printing long after summer session has ended! You will be amazed at what you can learn and produce in only 6 hours of class studio time. AMAZED I tell ya!

Jazzmarnier Cocktail Party celebrates The Clay Studio's 40 years!

Yay!! As a former Clay Studio Resident I have been invited to share in the fun of celebrating this milestone with my special Little Baby's Ice Creamcollaboration: vegan Jazzmarnier Ice Cream made of a coconut meat base flavored with jasmine tea lingerings laced with lavender hints and sweetened with agave.
As part of the festivities, "Jazzmarnier Cocktails" will be served this as I demonstrate screen-printing your own drink coasters with a golden gemstone design inspired by French Sevres porcelain patterns created to commemorate this momentous occasion!

Experimental Summer Screen-Printing Studio School!
From this June to September only the Studio Schoolgets experimental in a new very convenient location at Front & Girard Streets in Philadelphia; easily accessible by car, bike, and public trans. This makes us very happy to be back in the neighborhood where the school started in 2008 and to keep on spreading our LOVE of screen printing for just one more summer in Philly!
Classes in printing on paper and fabric (including t-shirts) start with beginner/novice level on up to independent study. Small group workshops can be easily arranged for your team building experience. Artist projects are welcome too! It has been a long cold winter and now that it is officiallySPRING the time has come for us to pop our heads up and share a bit of news with you!
The CandyCoated Studio moved to a spacious new spot that was originally a candy factory and formerly a textile warehouse. It is being developed in to a mixed use 'makers' community with an excellent roof top view of Philadelphia. The studio has been reinvigorated with the return of daylight savings time while diligently planning a really exciting summer. Developments are well underway on a secret big project to be unveiled in coming months... envision huge flowering design taking over a parking lot, heart shaped play boxes filled with pink & red candy colored sand, captivating music... July & August are going to be out of this world!
Our favorite feline KATZ! has been all over the NYC art scene recently, getting plenty of attention for her sweet pillow likeness. See feature here: best art featuring cats.

Studio School Screen Printing Classes resume in December
The Studio is taking the month of November to set-up the new space. As soon as the print tables are built, screen printing classes will resume with private lessons for those with the desire to learn.
A curriculum that focuses on wallpaper and fabric yardage printing is in the works & perfect for repeat pattern loving designers of all kinds! Additionally there is plenty of space for the 4-arm T-shirt printing press and opportunity to create multi-color images and CMYK color separations. Yeayh!!!!

DesignPhiladelphia was very busy for the studio with the Tyler School of Art's "Art Market" screen printing demonstrations and the 'Take a Seat' Fundraising Festival opening event!
Unfortunately the CandyCoated spirit tour, 'Wanderlusting' was postponed due to a calamity of events including the inane government shutdown and a 102 degree fever...bummers.
But all is not lost, a feature length film of 'Wanderlusting' is still in the works...
stay tuned for developmental details of this fascinating smooshing of parallel historic and contemporary mystical worlds!
